Warren County on TripAdvisor
Morning: Enjoy a driving tour of Caesar Creek State Park, with stops at the Visitor’s Center and a scenic overlook. A visit to view the fall foliage is just breath-taking. Then to Lebanon, for a journey back in time at the Warren County Historical Society Museum, where there are many unusual (some considered a little creepy) items on display. The museum also features one of the largest Shaker furniture and artifact displays in the country. Hear the story of how the Shakers ‘disappeared’.
Afternoon: Enjoy lunch at the historic Golden Lamb, Ohio’s oldest inn, where you can view many of the 18 guest rooms that have hosted famous political and literary figures of the 19th century. Arrange for a guide to tell a few stories about the most unusual ‘guests’ that have stayed at the inn. Save time for shopping in charming Lebanon before your next stop at Ft. Ancient, where you’ll experience 15,000 years of American Indian heritage at North America’s largest prehistoric Indian hilltop enclosure with a guided tour.
Evening: End this memorable day with Morgan’s Haunted Float Trip, a peaceful and (un) natural guided adventure through the Ft. Ancient Gorge on a national scenic river in non-capsizeable rafts. Or, take a winery tour followed by a hearty steak dinner at Valley Vineyards, well-known for their award winning wines and “grill-your-own” steak cookouts. They also have huge indoor grills for when the weather is “iffy”.
Morning: Start with another short driving tour along the one of Ohio’s Designated Scenic Byways to Waynesville, with a stop at The Secret Garden, where you can stroll along multiple garden paths filled with unique and whimsical works of art and primitives.
Afternoon: Enjoy high tea or lunch at The Brass Pig before traveling along the invisible road to freedom, The Underground Railroad in Springboro. Your tour begins at the Springboro Historical Society Museum, with “Sadie” as your guide (a runaway slave re-enactor) and concludes at the Null Cabin, with a peek at some of the documented hiding spots.
Evening: Meet your spiritual guide for the Ghostly Tales & Tour of Waynesville, known as the Antique Capital of the Midwest and Ohio’s most haunted village. The evening meal takes place at the Hammel House, an old stagecoach stop with a ghost or two of its own.
