Halloween (or Samhain) is an ancient Celtic holiday where it was believed that the veil becomes thinnest between worlds and one could contact the departed. Explore the history of Irish immigration to Ohio & the U.S. and their circular concept of time and Halloween traditions. Then examine how one author incorporated this unique Irish worldview into a paranormal novel where the past is always present (with supernatural consequences!).
The Golden Lamb: Sarah's Room
Stop in anytime during normal operating hours.
Golden Lamb Restaurant & Hotel in Lebanon, Ohio.
Sarah's Room is on the 4th floor
On the 4th floor of The Golden Lamb in historic downtown Lebanon, there is a special room called "Sarah's Room" where many guests say they have encountered the presence of Sarah Stubbs, a child who lived in the hotel in the 1800's. As a relative of the inn´s owner, she and her mother were often relocated from room to room. All the moving disturbed Sarah and her frustration is felt (and seen) today by her toys and belongings unexpectedly being moved, or doors being opened.
Ghost & Goblet Dinner and Tour
Weekends in October
Hammel House Inn in Historic Waynesville
Hammel House teams up each year with Waynesville's Friend Museum and present Ghost and Goblet Dinners and Tours. Start at Hammel House for a scrumptous fall dinner, a brief history of Waynesville and stories about the Hauntings in the outlying area from the Museum Guides. The legend of Hammel House is revealed and I will tell stories of the hauntings here at Hammel House as told to us by our B & B guests, visitors, and staff. (Hammel House is the most active building in Waynesville, Ohio's Most Haunted Town). Then our guests proceed to Main Street where they are given an hours tour of the buildings that have "haunted" reputations. After the tour the guests are invited to the Friends Museum for a tour, more stories and coffee and cookies to finish the evening.
