Manager of Facilities, Warren County Sports Park
The Manager of Facilities will perform a variety of skilled/manual work functions in the coordination, preparation, repair, and maintenance of athletic fields, park grounds and structures at the 128-acre Warren County Sports Park at Union Village (WCSP).
Organic: Plan, organize, and direct the establishment and maintenance of turf grass areas and other plant materials – watering, mowing, weed removal, aeration, renovation and fertilization of athletic field turf, tree and shrub maintenance, etc.
Irrigation: Perform a variety of duties in the maintenance of irrigation systems; change and adjust heads, maintain controllers, perform irrigation system installation and maintenance projects.
Equipment: Operate a full range of grounds maintenance vehicles and equipment including dump trucks, mowers, edgers, leaf blowers, tractors, loaders, and hand and power tools; maintain tools and equipment and perform preventative maintenance on equipment; maintain play equipment, picnic tables, and other related parks equipment and facilities.
Cleanliness: Maintain cleanliness and preparedness of the WCSP including removing trash and debris from walkways, culverts, stairways, roadways, planters and parking areas, and buildings (including restrooms).
Structures: Perform semi-skilled maintenance to the interior of structures and other fixtures (hardscape, retaining walls, borders, posts, slabs, drains, etc.), perform repairs, modifications, painting, and replacement of fixtures, plumbing, electrical, and structural components.
Safety: Maintain current material safety data sheets (MSDS) for potentially hazardous materials; Maintain logs and pesticide use reports; Identify maintenance needs and safety hazards; report to appropriate staff.
-Oversee and guide other grounds crew members as needed.
-Deal courteously and tactfully with the public in response to inquiries and complaints.
-Assist in set-up and remove of equipment needed for events including field lining and goal moving.
-Assist in construction of new facilities, including clearing, grading, draining & foundation work.
-Perform other duties as assigned.
Preference Given to Candidates With:
-Two-year (associates) degree in turf management
-Four years of experience in the maintenance, construction, and repair of parks or similar facilities
-An Ohio Dept. of Agriculture pesticide license (possesses or is able to acquire)
-Equivalent combination of relevant training, education, and experience
Necessary Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
-Thorough knowledge of turf management and maintenance practices/techniques for athletic fields
-Knowledge of horticulture and methods of planting and caring for plants, trees, shrubs & lawns
-Knowledge of watering requirements for turf, trees, shrubs, and lawns and various types of soil
-Knowledge of sprinkler and irrigation system design, installation, operation, and maintenance
-Knowledge of operating and mechanical characteristics of a full range of grounds maintenance equipment sufficient to skillfully -operate and perform routine maintenance
-Ability to read landscape blueprints and specifications
-Knowledge and skill at proper and safe application of fertilizers, herbicides, and pesticides, and techniques for safe handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials
-Knowledge of safe lifting techniques
-Sufficient math skill to calculate distance, proportions, and sums
-Sufficient human relations skill to work cooperatively as part of a team to serve internal and external customers

Sports Marketing Intern
The Warren County Convention and Visitors Bureau is a professional destination marketing organization that uses its resources and influence to increase the number of year-round visitors to Warren County.
Sports Marketing Department Mission:
Stimulate demand for Warren County tourism partners through sporting events and tournaments resulting in incremental overnight business and economic impact. The sports marketing department generated more than 80,000 hotel room nights and over $50 million in estimated economic impact in 2018.
The sports marketing intern will be responsible for assisting with program coordination, site management, distribution of materials, event planning, office needs and general office and field projects.
-Assist with event preparation and promotion
-Site manager for sporting events that occur during internship
-Assist with general office work
-Well-organized and self-motivated
-Event planning experience preferred
-Willingness to help with a variety of programs and tasks
-Sports marketing background preferred
-Ability to lift 50 pounds; must have driver’s license and access to a vehicle
-Networking opportunities with local travel tourism partners and event rights holders
-Working for a qualified experienced organization
-Paid internship with possibility of class credit where possible
Timeframe for Internship:
The term of the Spring/Summer internship is approximately 13 weeks (May 16 to August 15) with an average of 25 to 35 hours per week during that period. The actual schedule will be event-dependent. Intern must be available to work weekends during summer.
The intern will be paid monthly (June, July, August) in the sum of $1,000 (broken out in two separate checks). No other benefits are provided.
