Fall for Fun: Your Perfect First Day of Fall Getaway in Warren County

Blog by Stacha Yundt

Leaves are changing, the days are shorter, and there’s a festival happening every weekend — fall has officially arrived in Warren County.

With pumpkin and apple-flavored treats dominating menus and seasonal fun happening every day, it’s the perfect time for a quick getaway. Here’s how we’d spend the first official day of fall in Ohio’s Largest Playground:

Morning: Start Sweet

Kick things off with a seasonal treat that tastes like autumn in every bite. Irons Fruit Farm in Lebanon is famous for their perfectly seasoned apple cider donuts (and apple fritters. Oh! And apple cider. Did we forget the apple pie?) Pair it with a steaming cup of coffee from a local shop like Lot No. 1 Coffee in nearby downtown Lebanon, and you’ve got the perfect fuel for a day of exploring.

Midday: Take the Scenic Route

Next up: leaf-peeping. Caesar Creek State Park is the perfect spot for a fall hike or lakeside stroll. Lace up your hiking boots and hit the trails for beautiful views of the changing leaves and the park’s massive lake. Bring a picnic along to make the most out of your afternoon.

Afternoon: Cozy Up Downtown

After a nature fix, head into nearby downtown Waynesville for a little shopping and snacking. Explore the antique shops that have made this small town the Antique Capital of the Midwest or their trendier, modern boutiques. When you need to refuel, stop by Taylor’s Coffee & Creamery for a baked treat and delectable drink. Best known for their viral coffee buckets, this local shop has put together a must-try fall menu, featuring everything from a Harvest Spice Latte to an Apple Chai-der.
