Last Splash of Summer in Ohio's Largest Playground

Blog by Stacha Yundt
Grab your towel, summer’s not over yet!
While pumpkin-spiced treats might already be appearing on grocery store shelves, there’s still plenty of summer left to enjoy in Ohio’s Largest Playground. Before we officially trade in our swim suits for sweaters for another year, here are a few destinations we’re planning to dip our toes in!
Kings Island Soak City - Open through Labor Day
Kings Island’s massive water park is one of the coolest places in Warren County to soak up some sun and make a splash. With 40 different water slides that range from toddler-approved all the way to RiverRacers, Ohio’s first and only dual racing water coaster, there’s something for every level of thrill seeker at Soak City. Still, a waterpark is more than just its ups and downs. The park is filled with swimming lagoons, plenty of which are the perfect depth for younger swimmers, and two massive wave pools (with lifejackets available!). A lazy river winds its way through Soak City, and splash pads are scattered across the park.
As a bonus way to stay cool, hop on the train after your day at the waterpark and head over to Kings Island’s main park, where water rides like their log flumes and high-speed coasters offer even more chances to cool off!
Caesar Creek State Park
While Ohio’s only Great Lake is up north, Warren County is home to a pretty great lake of our own. Caesar Creek State’s Park massive recreational lake is over 2,800 acres and is perfect for boating, swimming and fishing. The lake has an unlimited horsepower designation and has five accessible boat ramps for public use. The 1300-foot public beach is sandy with plenty of space designated for swimming and features expansive picnic areas, making it a perfect beach-day destination!
Paddling the Little Miami Scenic River
Whether you’re dipping in toes or paddles, it doesn’t get much more refreshing than a day spent on the scenic Little Miami River. With long stretches of calm water and plenty of great canoe liveries to choose from like Rivers Edge Outfitters, Little Miami Kayak & Canoe and River Dogs Paddlesports, it’s the perfect paddling destination for experienced kayakers and newbies alike. You’ll find plenty of places to swim, skip rocks and soak up the local scenery.
