One of Nation's Biggest Youth Soccer Tournaments Coming to New Destination Sports Park in Warren County

WARREN COUNTY, OHIO (June 17, 2019) – When the Warren County Sports Park at Union Village opens in the spring of 2020, one of the first events it hosts will be one of the biggest and most prestigious soccer tournaments in the nation.

The Cincinnati USA Convention & Visitors Bureau and the Warren County Convention & Visitors Bureau (WCCVB) mounted a joint effort to secure the tournament, known as Premier SuperCopa, for the new destination sports park near Lebanon.
Held annually, the invite-only tournament features nearly 200 youth soccer clubs consisting of more than 3,000 of the nation’s best boys and girls players between the ages of 9-12. Past events have included teams from 34 different states and three different countries.
SuperCopa’s 2019 tournament, held last week at MoneyGram Soccer Park in Dallas, Texas, drew approximately 20,000 attendees over its five-day duration. On Saturday in Dallas, U90C, the management organization for the event, announced its 2020 tournament will be played at the Warren County Sports Park at Union Village, from June 17 to June 21, 2020.
Work began on the 128-acre Warren County Sports Park in February, 2018, and is slated for completion later this year. The destination sports park, located at 1408 State Route 741 in Lebanon, features 14 international-sized soccer fields, six baseball fields and other amenities.

“We’ve built the only destination sports park in Southern Ohio, and couldn’t have picked a better event to help inaugurate this new facility,” said Phillip S. Smith, President & CEO of the Warren County CVB.  “We’re very excited to welcome these young athletes and their families to our area, and we’re so pleased to have joined forces with our friends at the Cincinnati USA CVB in order to make this happen.”

The event will be the first national championship soccer event played at the new park, according to Ben Huffman, Director of Sports Enterprises for the WCCVB.
“Being selected to host such a highly regarded tournament was an absolute honor, and we’re looking forward to working alongside the Cincinnati USA CVB, U90C and everyone involved to put on a wonderful event,” Huffman said.
According to estimates from Destination International’s Event Impact Calculator, the event will generate an economic impact of more than $14 million for the Greater Cincinnati community, filling its hotel rooms, restaurants and attractions with visiting athletes, coaches and supporters.

“Hosting prestigious national and international events like SuperCopa continues to elevate the Cincinnati region’s reputation as a top destination for high-profile sports experiences,” said Julie Calvert, president and CEO of the Cincinnati USA CVB. “Through our collaboration with the Warren County CVB and regional hospitality partners, we are confident that this event will be a success for the competing teams, their supporters and the Cincinnati region as a whole.”
