Warren County Celebrates National Travel & Tourism Week

WARREN COUNTY, OH (May 1, 2019) –  In celebration of National Travel and Tourism Week, the Warren County Convention & Visitors Bureau (WCCVB) recognizes the tourism industry's social and economic impact at the county, state and national levels.

Celebrated each May, National Travel & Tourism Week serves to encourage recreational travel nationwide, highlighting its importance to the job market, as well as both economic and personal development. This year's celebration, which marks its 36th anniversary, will span from May 5-11.

According to the United States Travel Association (USTA), travel generates $2.5 trillion for the U.S. economy annually and is one of the nation’s largest exports. The travel industry is also America’s seventh largest employer, supporting 15.7 million jobs nationwide.

Locally, Warren County welcomes more than 12 million visitors annually, while generating $1.2 billion in visitor spending and supporting 11,666 tourism-related jobs according to a study by Tourism Economics and Tourism Ohio. One of the county’s leading industries, tourism accounts for one in every ten jobs, or approximately 10.4 percent of its workforce.

“Tourism is an incredibly important industry all across the nation, but it’s especially near and dear to us here in Warren County,” said Phillip S. Smith, President & CEO of the WCCVB. “Not only is our county packed full of unique entertainment, dining and lodging options, but it’s also very affordable and easy to reach. Those factors have made us an increasingly popular tourism destination over the years, and we’re looking forward to even more success in the years ahead.”
