Warren County to Host More Than 280 Youth Baseball Teams this Summer

WARREN COUNTY, OH (June 13, 2017) – More than 280 youth baseball teams from across the nation will make their way to Warren County, Ohio this summer, according to Warren County Sports, a department of the Warren County Convention & Visitors Bureau (WCCVB).

The 6th Annual Warren County Summer Slam (June 22-25) and 8th Annual Kings Island Invitational (June 29-July 2) are expected to draw an estimated 45,000 attendees from Ohio, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Missouri, New York, Tennessee, West Virginia and Wisconsin. Those attendees are expected to generate approximately $1.6 million in economic impact for the county, while also accounting for more than 4,500 room nights at local hotels and bed & breakfasts.

Both tournaments, either owned or hosted by the WCCVB, have experienced significant growth in both size and popularity over the years. “When we first dipped our toes into the youth baseball market back in 2010, we hosted just one 53-team tournament,” said Ben Huffman, Director of Sports Marketing for the Warren County Convention & Visitors Bureau. “Since then, we’ve welcomed hundreds of tournaments and thousands of athletes, and have very quickly become one of the sport’s most in-demand tournament destinations.”

Phillip S. Smith, President & CEO of the WCCVB, credits much of Warren County’s success in the youth sports market to its family-friendly off-the-field offerings. “There are baseball diamonds and basketball courts all over the nation, but when athletes and their families travel for sports they’re looking for much more than just a place to play,” Smith said. “We can offer our guests an excellent array of attractions, restaurants, shops and hotels in addition to great sporting facilities, and that has played a huge role in our success.”

Warren County Sports will host nearly 100 sporting events in 2017, drawing more than 600,000 visitors to the county.
